Stay Stylish for your Wedding – Top Wedding Dress Trends

As wedding season is approaching we are keeping our schedules filled with wedding dress shopping, fittings 1,2,3,4 and 5, bridesmaid shopping, mother of the bride shopping, tux fittings and more! As you can guess we have seen a plethora of styles and colors that are becoming popular this season. This is a wedding so everyone wants to look and feel his or her finest! JG is here to break down the best of the best that you should be on the lookout for.

For the Bride:

To brides, this is the dress that matters most of all. In a lot of cases we have seen that the dress dictates the rest of the wedding. Whether your sites are set on Kleinfeld where you comb through a sea of whites to find your perfect fit, or more of a couture experience at Vera Wang you have to be you. If you are torn between a few different ideas, let us help you pick one right for you!

The Classic Dress:

  • When most people think wedding dress, it is strapless and/or lace. So of course we had to put this Pronovias dress on our list, which is covered in their famous couture lace from Barcelona. Classic white lace is a staple for most weddings and it’s easy to see why when looking at this picture. Most people only wear a wedding dress once so why not make it exactly what you dreamed of as a little girl. We love the lace all over look but only with a body hugging type of dress so it doesn't become too matronly. This strapless fit and flare also gives it that youthful look with the crown veil.

    The Fun Dress:

    • We are seeing a lot of dresses with fuller skirts. This style by Pnina Tornai makes you feel like the belle of the ball (which you already are because you are the bride). You don't have to worry about a bustle because there is no train and if you are a little body conscious this style will make your worries obsolete. The tiered look has not come around for a while but it is back in full swing (pun intended). It also allows the dress to have some style throughout instead of all of the prettiness at the top. We are seeing a lot of designers play with asymmetrical ruffles throughout the skirt to keep the eye moving.

      The Romantic Dress:

      • What goes around comes around? You may be looking at this dress thinking this is something my grandma wore, but believe it or not long sleeves are in! We are seeing a huge shift is wedding dresses that are simple but elegant with a touch of romance. Like in this Monique Lhuillier dress the lace is not as busy as some so it gives you the ability to place it all over as well as letting it peak through the romantic chiffon skirt. Many brides are gravitating to this style as it allows them the best of both worlds and really makes them feel like a bride.

        For the Groom:

        One Trend: Navy Tuxedos

        • This is the hot tux right now. Everyone from celebrity to the common man looks good in this navy tuxedo by Burberry. The contrast of the black lapels allows the groom to choose a black bowtie or even black pants. But the pop of color the navy gives is the perfect modern touch. This is also a great choice in a suit if your wedding is not going to be a black tie affair. And let’s not forget that wedding season happens in the spring/summer when it is HOT, and who wants to be in all black on a hot summer day? Not your groom!

          For the Bridesmaids:

          Classy Metallics:

          • So long are the days where brides want to find the most hideous dresses for their bridesmaids. Now it’s all about looking good for the million pictures people will be posting. A gorgeous combination we are seeing a lot of right now is mixed metallic dresses. These colors are neutral enough but the little shimmer gives it that extra edge. Plus, the options are endless! If you want to go more towards the gold and copper tones or silver and gunmetal shades or mix it all up there are countless possibilities. A designer we use a lot for bridesmaids dresses is Adrianna Papell who has some great options in cuts suited for everyone.

Whatever you decide to choose though, make sure it is 100% you. If you feel like you need a professional opinion there are great bridal stylists and dressers like our good friend Julie Sabatino who knows the ins and outs of the bridal wear market. And remember wherever you are, always have properFUN while doing it!
